Debunking Common Misconceptions About Mobile Notary Services

Mobile notary services play a crucial role in facilitating real estate closings and general notary work, offering convenience and efficiency to clients. However, there are several misconceptions surrounding these services that often lead to misunderstandings. Let’s debunk some of these misconceptions to provide clarity on what mobile notaries truly offer:

Misconception 1: Mobile notaries are only for real estate closings. Reality: While real estate closings are a significant aspect of my work, I offer a wide range of services beyond this. From witnessing signatures for legal documents to administering oaths and affirmations, I can assist with various notarial needs, including wills, powers of attorney, and contracts.

Misconception 2: Mobile notaries are expensive. Reality: The cost of mobile notary services can vary depending on factors such as location, time, and the complexity of the task. However, many of my clients find that the convenience and flexibility offered by mobile notaries justify the fees. Additionally, the peace of mind knowing that documents are notarized correctly is invaluable in legal matters.

Misconception 3: Any notary can provide mobile services. Reality: Not all notaries offer mobile services. I have completed extensive training and certification to perform notarial acts outside the office. I am well-equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to execute signings efficiently and accurately at my clients’ preferred locations.

Misconception 4: Mobile notaries are not as reliable as traditional notaries. Reality: As a mobile notary, I prioritize professionalism and reliability in my services. I understand the importance of adhering to legal requirements and upholding the integrity of notarial acts. However, I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice or direct my clients on the forms to have notarized.

Misconception 5: Mobile notaries are only available during regular business hours. Reality: One of the primary advantages of using my mobile notary service is my flexibility. Unlike traditional notaries who may operate within set business hours, I offer extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate clients’ schedules. Additionally, I regularly travel to clients’ homes, offices, or other preferred locations, making notarization convenient and accessible.

Whether you’re closing on a property or need documents notarized, consider enlisting my services as a reputable, professional mobile notary to ensure a seamless and efficient process.

Identification Required for Texas Notarizations

In Texas, various forms of identification are accepted for notarizations regardless of the age of the signer(s), ensuring the authenticity and validity of legal documents. Common forms of ID include state-issued driver’s licenses, identification cards, and concealed handgun licenses issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. The notary must be able to review the original identification to be able to complete notary services, copies of ids are not permitted. Additionally, U.S. passports, military IDs, and foreign passports with appropriate visas are also recognized. For individuals without government-issued IDs, alternatives such as credible witnesses, may be utilized, provided they sufficiently verify the signer’s identity and eligibility. It’s essential for individuals seeking notarization services to ensure they have the appropriate identification in accordance with Texas regulations to facilitate a smooth and legally-binding process.

Help me help you

Stop. Right now, stop. Check your driver’s license and see if it is current. If not, make an appointment to get it renewed at your local Department of Public Safety Office. Keep your identification current. (And by current, I mean a valid state picture driver’s license or state identification card or a current passport.) It is a requirement that you have a valid id, driver’s license, or state identification card, to get notarial services. Your social security card does not work, it doesn’t have a picture or any identifying information to help confirm your identity. And if you find yourself in the hospital and need a medical directive, or POA, you have to have a current id to complete those forms, want to buy or sell your home…you need a. current id to complete the transaction. Do you need to get a copy of your birth certificate? The form requires a notarization so you need a current id and the list goes on and on. A valid state id with a picture is super important!

I have heard that the wait time for an appointment at the DPS office in Sherman is 3 months so really, stop. right. now. and. check. your. id. You may be able to renew your id online and that should be quicker but again, don’t wait until the last minute in case you have to schedule an in-person appointment.

You can renew your license/id at any DPS office in Texas so call the surrounding towns to see if their wait times are shorter. Help me, help you, and keep your id current!
